What is the Official Mod Manager & Creator Kit?
On January 30, 2025, Hogwarts Legacy received a significant free update introducing official mod support for PC players. This update included the in-game Mod Manager and the Creator Kitā tools designed to simplify the process of creating, sharing, and installing mods.
While a PC modding scene has existed since the gameās launch in 2023, this initiative is only now fully supported by Avalanche Software, the game's developer, and Warner Bros. Games, the publisher. With these tools, players can create and enjoy a variety of custom content, including new quests, dungeons, cosmetics, and more, all within the magical world of Hogwarts Legacy.
The Mod Manager
Accessible directly from the main menu, the mod manager lets you browse, download, and manage mods all from within the game.
Itās designed to be simple, clean, and beginner-friendly.
The Creator Kit
A free download from the Epic Games Store, the Creator Kit offers all the tools you need to create your own in-game contentā custom dungeons, characters, quests, gear, and more!
You can even link your CurseForge and WB Games accounts to publish your mods seamlessly.
How to Download & Browse Mods In Hogwarts Legacy
Ready to explore the modding universe? Hereās how to get started:
Open the Mod Manager
From the main menu, select the "Play Mods" option (just above "Exit Game").
Browse by Category
At the top, youāll see three main sections:
Discovery: Featured and trending mods picked by the team.
Browse: Search across categories like Brooms, Clothing, Spells, Gameplay, and more.
Library: View all the mods youāve downloaded, enabled or not.
Install a Mod
Click on a mod to view its page with details, screenshots, ratings, and storage size.
Click āInstallā to download it. It will appear in your Library once complete.
How to Enable Mods for Your Characters
Installing a mod doesnāt mean itās active. Youāll need to enable mods for a specific character (either new or existing).
Head to āEnable Modsā
Navigate to the "Enable Mods" tab in the mod manager.
Choose Your Save File
New Character: Click "New Character" to start fresh with mods.
Existing Character: Select one under "Unmodded Saves." The game will create a copy and move it to the "Modded Saves" list.
Enable or Disable Mods
On the right side:
Click mods in the āDisabledā section to enable them.
Click mods in the āEnabledā section to turn them off.
Apply Changes
āApplyā: Saves your changes and keeps you in the menu.
āApply & Continueā: Saves and loads into the game.
Always Load Modded Saves Correctly
Hover over your character in āModded Savesā and choose āLoadā to enter the game with your selected mods active.
Saving Progress
Modded saves are stored separately from unmodded ones.
If "Continue" from the main menu loads the wrong file, go back to the mod manager to load the correct modded save.
How to Use the Hogwarts Legacy Creator Kit
For aspiring modders, the Creator Kit is where the real magic begins.
Download it free from the Epic Games Store.
Create new content: quests, dungeons, gear, audio, skins, and more.
Use intuitive tools based on Unreal Engine 4 (streamlined for Hogwarts Legacy).
Upload mods to CurseForge by linking your WB Games and CurseForge accounts.
Every mod goes through a review process before appearing in the in-game library.

Tips, Tricks & Troubleshooting
Disabling Mods
Go to āEnable Mods,ā move the mod back to āDisabled,ā then hit Apply.
Uninstalling Mods
In the Library, hover or open the modās page and select āUninstall.ā
If a mod is uninstalled while still active, itāll be flagged with an exclamation mark. Disable it first for a clean removal.
Manual Mods vs Official Mods
Avoid using two mods (manual and in-game) that do the same thing.
Mods from sites like NexusMods wonāt appear in the in-game manager.
If mixing methods, test manually installed mods first before enabling official ones.
Mod Compatibility
Mods are character-specific in the official system.
To use mods like character creator overhauls, start a new modded character.
WB Account Linking
You must link your Steam or Epic account to WB Games to access the mod system.
This is done via the WB Games website under account connections.
Update Required?
Ensure your game is updated to Build Version 1326194 to access these features.

Are Mods Available for Console Players?
Short Answer: Not Yet.
As of now, official mod support is exclusive to the PC version of Hogwarts Legacy. This includes the in-game Mod Manager and the Creator Kit, which are both built for use with the PC version of the game.
Why Arenāt Mods on Consoles?
There are a few reasons:
Platform Restrictions: Consoles like PlayStation and Xbox have strict rules around third-party content and external tools, especially when it comes to user-generated files.
Technical Limitations: The modding tools and infrastructure (like the Creator Kit) are built on PC architecture and rely on file access and mod directories that consoles simply donāt allow.
Moderation & Approval: While PC mods go through an approval process via CurseForge, managing this kind of user-generated content on consoles would require a different (and more restricted) system, which hasn't been announced or implemented yet.
Could Console Modding Happen in the Future?
Itās possibleā¦ but donāt hold your breath just yet. While some games (like Skyrim or Fallout 4) eventually introduced curated mod support for consoles, this usually comes with heavy limitations and only after extensive backend development.
Avalanche Software and WB Games havenāt made any official announcements about mod support for consoles. However, if the PC modding scene continues to thrive, thereās always a chance that a curated selection of approved mods could make their way to PlayStation or Xbox later down the road.
