Hogwarts Legacy Potions & Ingredients Guide

Hogwarts Legacy Potions & Ingredients Guide

Welcome, budding witches and wizards! If you're looking to master potion brewing in Hogwarts Legacy, you're in the right place. This guide covers everything from unlocking potions to finding rare ingredients and making the most of these magical brews. Let’s get cookin'!

How to Unlock & Brew Potions in Hogwarts Legacy

Potion-making begins with your first Potions Class (early in the main quest line), where you’ll learn to craft Wiggenweld and Edurus potions. From there, your alchemical adventures begin!

Where to Brew Potions

  • Potions Classroom (Library Annex, Hogwarts Castle): Your first brewing station.

  • Room of Requirement: Unlock later and set up your own Potion Stations for easy access.

Brewing Basics

  1. Gather ingredients and obtain a recipe.

  2. Use a Potion Station and select your potion.

  3. Wait for the magic to happen! Brewing times range from seconds to 90 seconds.

  4. Collect your potion (Don't forget: uncollected potions may not count toward the Going Through the Potions trophy!).

Before we move on, let’s talk a little bit more about this ultimate wizarding workshop also known as the Room of Requirement.

You’ll unlock this wondrous space during the aptly named main quest The Room of Requirement, which appears roughly a few hours into the story. Once opened, it becomes your customisable home base, complete with conjurable stations for potion brewing, plant growing, and more. This is where your potion-making dreams really take off– no more relying on shops or luck. You can conjure a Potion Station (or several, if you’re fancy), plop down ingredient planters, and start mass-producing those lovely Wiggenwelds, Thunderbrews, and Invisibility Potions like a true magical entrepreneur.

Here’s what makes the Room of Requirement a potion-brewer’s paradise:

  • Potion Stations – Brew any unlocked potion using ingredients you've gathered. You can conjure multiple stations for efficiency!

  • Planters & Pots – Grow essential potion ingredients like Dittany and Mandrake with Small, Medium, or Large Pots.

  • Full Customisation – Change the style, size, and vibe of your brewing setup. Cosy cottagecore apothecary? Gothic dungeon lab? You do you.

  • Helpful Companions – Deek the house-elf helps you set up and expand the space, offering useful tips as you unlock new upgrades.

With a bit of creativity and a steady supply of Moonstone, your Room of Requirement becomes the perfect hub for all your potion-brewing needs (and maybe even a few magical experiments on the side).
