How to Beat the Armoured Mountain Troll

Don’t let the word “regular” fool you. The Armoured Mountain Troll may not be a named enemy, but your first clash with one during the Welcome to Hogsmeade quest feels every bit like a boss fight. This lumbering brute isn’t just here to smash buildings, it’s here to test your skills and patience. Let’s make sure you come out on top.

Armoured Mountain Troll Fight Phase 1

Learn, Dodge, Throw

The troll opens with an aggressive charge– dodge it immediately. Your basic spellcast will barely tickle this armoured monstrosity, so it’s time to get resourceful.

Use: Ancient Magic Throw

You’ll be prompted to hurl objects from the environment at the troll using Ancient Magic. This is your bread-and-butter here, dealing decent damage while keeping you safely at a distance. Barrels, crates, whatever’s not nailed down. Fling it.

Use: Troll Stagger Trick

When the troll charges and slams into a wall, it’ll briefly kneel in a dazed state. This is your golden window, so unleash your strongest spells or chuck everything you can find! While it’s down, it takes increased damage, so make it count.

Phase 2

The Magical Finish

As the troll’s health dips toward empty, you’ll unlock a new toy: the Ancient Magic Finisher. When the prompt appears, press it to trigger a cinematic takedown that blasts the troll into oblivion with a surge of pure magical might. It’s satisfying, powerful, and a sign that you’ve officially passed your first major combat test.

Tips for First-Time Fighters

• Don’t panic if the troll feels tanky. This is meant to teach you how to use environmental attacks and time your dodges.

• Use Protego and dodge rolls A LOT. This beast does hit pretty hard.

• Watch its windup animations. They’re slow but punishing. You’ll quickly learn the difference between blockable and unblockable attacks.

• Stick and move. Don’t stay in one spot for long or you’ll be turned into a wizard pancake.
